We’re mere hours away from our doggone-est Essay Fiesta yet! Come on down to the Book Cellar tonight (August 19th) at 7pm and throw these dogs a bone. (Or something.)

scott whitehairScott Whitehair is the producer and host of long running storytelling series This Much Is True, and creator of Story Lab Chicago, which has given over 150 new and first-timer tellers a chance to share their stories.  In the time left over after performing anywhere they’ll let him and teaching classes, he enjoys charcoal grilling and riding his bike around town.  Please talk to him after the show if you are interested in performing at Story Lab!

Scott Stealey was born in Chicago, grew up in the suburbs, then moved back to Chicago. He has worked as an editor for both Playboy and Poetry magazines, which should tell you all you need to know about his contradictory nature. He has published short stories in journals and on websites, and Featherproof Books even has one in PDF format, occupying that space between print and digital.

rose lanninThe product of nine years in San Francisco and eight years in St. Paul, Rose Lannin is pleasantly surprised to have lived in Chicago for almost a decade. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago’s Creative Writing program, she has been an editor for Gapers Block’s Book Club and Slowdown sections, an online coupon writer, technical support for car dealers, and many more things involving the Internet and writing in some capacity. Above all, she’s just happy to be here.

Jeff Miller is an expert-level jaywalker from Kent, Ohio.  He just finished his first book for ten-year old boys.  It is about video games, the air force, and on ostrich named Reggie, and that shit will be out next summer.

Ray Teresi is a story collector & public media producer, and a friendly face that you’ve likely seen at any number of live lit shows. He has been the official/unofficial Audio Guy for That’s All She Wrote, a live lit reading series at Swim Cafe.
