Our August Lineup is Lighter Than Air

Come on out to The Book Cellar at 7:00 pm on Monday, August 18th. This lineup is so good, they could make a helium atom react.

4238202Kelsie Huff is a stand-up comedian and writing/stand-up instructor. She also produces and hosts a comedy show called the kates, held right here at The Book Cellar. The next show will be August 30th 7pm. If you come to the kates show on the 30th and say “ESSAY FIESTA RULES” Kelsie will buy you a cupcake.

Mark Schab is a Jeff Award-winning performer and writer, native to Chicago. He is the author of the travel and food blog, “Kiss My France” and has recently performed with Story Sessions Chicago, Telling Tales Theatre and at the Ragdale Ring.

davidwberner2BW 2David W. Berner is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster, author, and professor at Columbia College Chicago. His first book, Accidental Lessons was awarded the 2011 Royal Dragonfly Grand Prize for Literature. His second memoir, Any Road Will Take You There won the 2013 Book of the Year Award from the Chicago Writer’s Association for nontraditional nonfiction, and will be re-released in late August by DREAM OF THINGS Book Publishing. His collection of essays – There’s a Hamster in the Dashboard – will be released by DREAM OF THINGS in early 2015.

Alyson Lyon co-produced Essay Fiesta from 2009-2012, before passing it on to Karen and Willy. Alyson is a makeup artist, writer, performer and director. Most recently, she directed Jen Bosworth’s acclaimed solo show “Why Not Me” at the Boho Theatre and Theatre Wit. The show was also featured in the 2013 New York Fringe Festival.
