Every year bookish nerds from around the country convene on a street in the South Loop to share stories of stories and use words to discuss words. The annual festivity is known as the Printers Row Lit Fest, and if you’ve never been, then MY GOD you haven’t lived!!!
For the literate exhibitionist, there is nothing more thrilling than purchasing books, hobnobbing with publishers and hearing author lectures in the outdoors…IN PUBLIC! Breath in that fresh downtown air while eating a hotdog or some nachos and discover a new author or two.
This year, there’s a special event called Lit After Dark. We’re not exactly sure what it is, but we don’t care. We’re going! The event will feature some of our reading series friends, including the good people at 2nd Story. If you like to party and don’t suffer from crippling social phobia, this is the event for you!
If you see a Essay Fiesta rep on the street (we’re the ones with the amazing postcards), come up and say, “Hi.” We love chatting, especially with the book folk.
Hope to see you at the lit fest!
