“Holidays Are Hell” at Town Hall on Dec. 10

BIG NEWS EVERYBODY!

Essay Fiesta has teamed up with three other Chicago reading series to create the Chicago Story Collective. For the collective’s inaugural project, we are producing a MEGA storytelling show that will put all other storytelling shows to shame. TO SHAME!

Holidays Are Hell” will feature six of Chicago’s top storytellers sharing tales of holiday woes.

Readers include:

  • Essay Fiesta’s Alyson Lyon and Keith Ecker
  • This Much Is True’s Deanna Moffitt and Scott Whitehair
  • Story Club’s Dana Norris
  • Stories at the Store’s Jen Bosworth

But that’s not even the half of it. We will have a MEGA raffle!!! You could win fabulous prizes from the Goodman Theatre, Groupon, Threadless, Terry’s Toffee, the iO Theatre, the Annoyance Theatre, Comedy Sportz and more! We have more than $400 worth of prizes we are just giving away!

What’s this for? Why all the holiday cheer? Howard Brown, of course! The community health organization is in dire straits and needs your help. Will you be Samaritan to help save one of the best public health resources in the Midwest? Not to be dramatic, but lives are depending on it.

So come out to the Town Hall Pub (3340 N. Halsted St.) on Dec. 10 at 10 p.m. There’s a $10 suggested donation at the door. With that, you get raffle tickets plus an exclusive Threadless discount. Oh, and there’s drink specials. Glorious drink specials.

Tell your friends. Tell your neighbors. This one is going to be one for the record books!
