Essay Fiesta Kicks Off Totally Chill Summer Fun on June 17th

On June 17th, we will be a few short days away from the summer solstice, the day of the year on which the daylight glows longest. After the solstice, of course, the sun shines less and less each day. As early as the Fourth of July, while distracted by flashy exploding things, we will already be barreling toward another dark, cold winter – and ultimately toward our own extinction from this planet.

ANYWAY. Come on down to The Book Cellar on Monday, June 17th at 7 pm. Hosts Willy Nast & Karen Shimmin will be joined by a lineup that will almost make you forget the impending darkness and gloom that foreshadows our inevitable ruin:

– Storyteller/Ray of Sunshine Stephanie Douglass
– Librarian/Already Has a Remote Off-The-Grid Cabin Sarah Leeman
– Podcaster/Doomsday Theorist Erin Kahoa
– Writer/Climate Change Super Scientist David Stuart MacLean

The show is free, as always, but bring some cash (which will be worthless after civilization’s collapse) to donate to 826CHI.
