Essay Fiesta is ecstatic to welcome Robbie Q. Telfer, poet extraordinaire, to our nerdy word party.
Robbie is kind of a big deal on the slam poetry scene. He has performed all across North America. He has also placed in the top 10 at the National Poetry Slam. This is not a guy you want to iambic pentameter with in a dark alley.
Robbie is also the performance manager for Young Chicago Authors, an amazing nonprofit that fights the good fight by empowering local youths to be the creative geniuses that they are. Part of his YCA duties include organizing Louder Than a Bomb, a Chicago city-wide youth slam and the largest team-based youth poetry slam in the world.
Robbie also produces the monthly Encyclopedia Show at the Chopin Theatre, which has featured many of the same talented people who have graced the Essay Fiesta stage. Finally, if you can believe it, Robbie has also published a collection of poems called Spiking the Sucker Punch.
Come see Robbie in all his glory on May 17 at 7 p.m. at the Book Cellar. It’s going to be a blast!
