Essay Fiesta tries to remain as modest as possible. But we kind of have to admit that our January line-up is absolutely stellar. Today we’re introducing you to another one of our very talented guests: Martha Reeves.
Hailing from Boston, Martha made her way to the Midwest in 2009. She’s currently a network playwright at the Chicago Dramatists and has been invited for repeat performances on “Here and Now,” a production of WBUR. Martha is a winner of the Jack Kerouac Literary Prize, and her one-act play incorporating her poem-monologues was a winner in the Dragonfly Contest of the Devanaughn Theatre in the South End of Boston. Her whimsical poetry also appears in The Geek Squad’s Guide to Solving Every Computer Glitch by Robert Stephens.
Martha is a master at highlighting the quirks of everyday life and the idiosyncrasies of everyday people. She has a unique voice that you will not want to miss. Come check her out on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Book Cellar. And as always, we’ll be supporting Howard Brown Health Center with an awesome raffle.
